Choosing a Hawk
Which Hawk is for me? Arrow II vs Arrow I / Plus / Sport / Classic?
We manufacture the Hawk Arrow II (two-seat) at our Cincinnati facility.
Is the Microsoft Flight Simulator Arrow II the same airplane I'll buy?
The MSFS Arrow II is our airplane. However, it isn't a substitute for the kit or aircraft you'll buy from us.
Taildragger vs tricycle, how to choose?
The kit offers tricycle or taildragger landing gear. Conversions have been done over the years. Photos help if you're changing an existing setup. Some tradeoffs depend on your flying preference. Contact Us.
STOL / rough-field performance?
STOL / rough-field performance is subjective to conditions and hence hard to quantify. However, we can provide more info on any specific questions you might have regarding that. Contact Us.
Regulations
Is this Hawk Part 103, Sport Pilot, SLSA/ELSA, or AULA? What license do I need to fly?
Hawk Arrow II is a Light Sport Aircraft and requires a Sport Pilot certificate or higher. MOSAIC may affect some cases so please check your path. Our Cincinnati shop only builds Arrow II which is two place. Contact Us.
Which Hawks can be FAR 103 and which cannot?
Arrow II is framed as Light Sport, it is not a Part 103 ultralight.
Is the HAWK MOSAIC Compliant?
As one of the first aircraft to join the SLSA category the Hawk is ready for MOSAIC.
Building the kit
What's in the basic kit? What are the engine, covering and other options?
The basic kit includes the airframe, landing gear (tricycle or taildragger), seats, and hardware. It does not include avionics, the engine package, or sail covers. The published standard for current Arrow II builds is the Rotax 912 UL (80 hp). The older two-strokes are discontinued. A parachute can be attached. For complete options and packages, Contact Us.
Can I get a POH, ops manual, assembly instructions, or plans?
Yes, POHs and manuals are available as hard copies. Printing and shipping are charged separately. We need your address for a full cost. We don't email core Hawk docs or post them for download. Contact Us.
How long does a first kit take, and what's factory-built vs builder work?
Build time depends on the builder and the options. We don't publish a one-size hours number here. For factory-built or assist paths, Contact Us.
Is the Avionics Panel customizable?
Factory built panels have limited customization. Contact Us.
Engines & options
What engines are used / supported?
The published standard for current Arrow II builds is the Rotax 912 UL (80 hp). Older Rotax two-strokes are discontinued. Fuel (avgas vs mogas) depends on the engine setup. For packages and options, Contact Us.
Do the wings fold / detach? How much space do I need to store the aircraft? What size trailer / hangar do I need?
Arrow II wings are straightforward to remove with two people (stands help). For hangar or trailer fit, Contact Us.
Buying, shipping, lead time
How much does a Hawk Arrow II kit cost?
Our team can work up costs and options for what you need. Contact Us.
Can I buy / ship internationally?
We will work with international buyers. Shipping is quoted per order (we need a full shipping address). A single finished unit is usually very expensive to ship so kit crates/containers are often economical. Contact Us.
Are kits still available? Are you still building? What's the lead time?
Yes, we're still producing kits at our Cincinnati shop (Made in Ohio). Lead times vary. Contact Us.
Kit vs ready-to-fly / factory-assist? How do I buy (factory vs dealer)?
Most buyers work with us and directly buy from us at Cincinnati. For US dealers, see the Dealers map. For overseas or other questions, Contact Us.
How much is shipping / freight?
Shipping and freight are quoted per order. We'll need a full shipping address. Contact Us.
Do you have dealers / agents overseas?
We're open to overseas agents. We don't always have an agent in every country. US: see the Dealers map, or Contact Us.
Tours, training, seeing one
How do I book a Cincinnati shop tour? Can I see/sit a Hawk?
We have a factory aircraft you can sit in. Visits are by appointment only. We do not accommodate walk-ins. Contact Us. Cincinnati, Ohio.
Can I train / get dual in an Arrow II?
We don't sell walk-in dual instruction or orientation flights at our Cincinnati location. For committed buyers, we can arrange an assembly/familiarization syllabus (about five days is a typical starting point). Contact Us.
Will you be at Sun 'n Fun / Oshkosh?
We usually plan to attend Sun 'n Fun and Oshkosh, often without a booth. We meet people and vendors in person and can be busy before the shows. For this year's plan, Contact Us.
Parts & older Hawks
Do you sell parts, covering, and hardware for older Hawks?
Yes, we sell parts and can help with covering for older Hawks. For Arrow II frame and parts, Contact Us. Fabric sail covers are made to order. If you are in the US you can go directly to Great Salt Lake Sails, and if you are outside the US, we can help coordinate. We don't publish a parts price list.
I have a used or unfinished Hawk. Can you help with parts or guidance?
We're the manufacturer. We sell new kits and new aircraft only. We don't buy, sell, or value used Hawks. We're glad to help owners with parts, maintenance, and restorations. Contact Us.
